About The Artists of Ruby Rose Studio

Originally from Marion, Ohio, Lisa Lackey-Cain found herself drawn to the creative process at a very young age.

“During my elementary years I often chose to stay inside at recess to help finish art projects such as painting a classroom mural; however, the largest influence in my life was the exposure to artistic creativity and business ownership from my parents. My mother was extremely creative—forever changing the colors and décor of our home on a regular basis and designing and creating clothes for me and my siblings! She eventually became an accomplished seamstress known for creating beautiful bedding for small home décor retailers. My father, a successful business owner, was founder and owner of a large regional box company.”

Lisa attended Ohio University earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. From Ohio, Lisa moved to Vermont to work on her Master’s in Art Therapy. While in Vermont she painted commercial event backdrops, helped organize art classes for senior citizens, and co-owned a restaurant called the River Run. After Vermont, her gypsy nature moved her to Florida, New Jersey, and finally back to her roots in Central Ohio. Inspired by her passion for large scale painting projects, interior design, and small business ownership, Lisa easily moved into the field she enjoys so much today—designing beautiful living spaces for clientele with original artwork of Ruby Rose Studio.

Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, Jennifer (Keller) Belt comes from a family of many talented members.

“One grandmother wrote poetry, my great-grandmother was a prolific oil-painter, my father played guitar and sang, and my mother was an incredible sketch artist and small business-owner, as well. As children, my sister and I were always encouraged to be creative and experiment in the arts. We were given a play-room where we could draw, paint, and scribble all over the walls to our hearts’ content—being creative is just something our family comes by naturally, I guess.”

Jennifer attended the University of Akron earning a BA in Psychology in 1998. In 1999 she began to freelance as an interior decorator for friends and family and in a short time moved into professional consultations in Columbus, Ohio. As the demand for Jennifer’s time as an interior decorator escalated, she moved to Columbus and started her own interior decorating business, Interiors by Jen.

Ruby Rose Studio was born in 2004 when Jen and Lisa met. They began as a small decorative painting and interior design consultation firm. In 2009, they launched their first line of original artwork with great success leading to a focus on custom original artwork for the home or business.

“We think art is such an important part of every community’s soul. It teaches us about expression, color, design, and connection to one another. Art reaches out to persons of all colors, economic backgrounds, and religions and says, ‘See, you all appreciate me! Now you have something in common!’ We find this impact beautiful.”
